How long are the Genealogy Experiences?
You will meet the genealogist at 11:00 am and they will leave you at 3:00 pm. You are of course free to stay at certain locations if you wish, however if the genealogy experience takes place at the Society of Genealogist, you must vacate the building by 3:45 pm.
On which days do you operate Genealogy Experiences?

Due to the limited opening hours of the record offices, the gift recipient will need to be flexible. This gift experience therefore might be unsuitable for some gift recipients.
Where do I meet the Genealogist?
There are two meeting points:
1/ at the entrance of Barbican Underground Station, London (Circle, Hammersmith & City, and Metropolitan Lines);

Afternoon: Practical sessions.
What’s included in the price?
Your time with the genealogist and all practical sessions.
Morning drink and cake.

Can I bring someone to accompany me (Optional Second Person)?
All of the genealogy experiences are designed for one person only. It is possible, however, to bring an Optional Second Person to keep you company if this has been purchased.
If you have received a genealogy experience as a gift, your genealogy certificate will tell you if a person can accompany you for the entire day, for example ‘DNA for Absolute Beginners for Two.’
Please note due to limited space at the Society of Genealogist, it may not be possible for the Optional Second Person to stay with the gift recipient at all times. There are other floors within the building for the Optional Second Person to visit including the comfy Common Room should over-crowding in the research area be an issue.
Where no Optional Second Person has been purchased, anyone travelling with the gift recipient will be required to leave them at the meeting point.
A certificate without the extra person would simply be ‘DNA for Absolute Beginners.’
Are there age restrictions?
We are not able to take any attendees under the age of sixteen.
What do I bring?

Paper or a notepad,
Pencils (without eraser),

How long do I have on my voucher?
Your voucher lasts for 12 months. You must book and complete your genealogy experience by the expiry date shown on the voucher.
We will not fulfil the Gift Experience after the voucher has expired under any circumstances.
What are the best months to book my genealogy experience?
Please avoid October, November, and December – these are our busiest times. Our genealogy experiences are subject to availability, so if you have had the voucher for 11 months and then try to book, but cannot because we are fully booked, your voucher cannot be extended and you will loose your genealogy experience. We recommend booking as early as possible. Currently, the quietest months are July, August, and September and these are therefore the best time for bookings.
